McAllister Cemetery, County Road 81, Union County, MS Submitted by Sandra McCollum McAllister Cemetery (now in Union Co., but in Tippah Co. until 1870) is a private cemetery on land once owned by Mr. Mark McAllister, son of Dr. Albert Holley Broadus McAllister. I have researched the deeds and this piece of land has always been excluded when the surrounding land was sold. Bob Wilson Norris of Austin, TX (an attorney) said the cemetery land was given to his grandfather and the state of TX many years ago. The state of TX cannot own land in another state, so he said it belonged to his grandfather. He is in the process of setting up a perpetual trust fund to take care of the cemetery forever. Bob is a descendant on his maternal and paternal lines through Robert McAllister and John Bell McAllister and has graciously allowed his family bibles to be photographed.
