Clan McAlister of America Guestbook
Welcome to the old Clan McAlister of America (CMA) Guestbook. Please note that there are both a Guestbook Page (this one) and a Query Page. The distinction is important.
- The Guestbook (this page) was for general queries, comments, invitations to other Guestbook readers for response and the like. The postings were / are public.
- The Query Page (click here) is for inquiring of the CMA database to see if there is a listing for your ancestor(s). Queries, and any response(s) from the CMA, are not posted pubicly.
- Beginning in mid-2002, some jokers began posting spam and pornographic messages on the Guestbook. Every time the messages were cleared, they were reposted. The frequency and general viciousness of the spam attacks has been such that we not going to allow any future Guestbook entries. There is no guaranteed "right" to post entries. It is (was) a privilege and, since it was abused, it was withdrawn.
- If you would like to join the CMA, simply print the Membership Form and send it with your check. Your CMA Journal will be sent to you. Back issues are also available.
- Older posts to this page were periodically archived and then cleared to make it load faster. The archive is here.
- If you wish to communicate privately with the Geneaology Comittee, Database Manager or another officer, click here
Please note: These postings are old, and getting older every day. Some links from folks who posted messages may no longer function due to changes beyond the control of CMA.
My great grandmother is a McAllister who married a Hugues from Ireland. They immigrated to Canada around the mid 1890's. I've been researching this side of my family sporadically for two years now. I've found a crest at the highland games in Montreal this year and would like to know what it means: it represents either an eagle or griffon it's wings and talons spread out - red - on yellow background with six fleurs de lys (white) on the surrounding black border. The symbolism intrigues me. Thanking you in advance for any information you could forward me.

My maternal great grandfather, Archibald McAlister, came from Cushendal, Nothern Ireland to Charleston, SC in 1870.He had nine children, some stayed in Charleston, one went to Texas, One went to California and my grandfather, Charles Stewart McAlister, went to Greenville, SC. I just returned from a trip to Cushendall where I found four third cousins. If you think you have any connection, please email me as above. Thanks to the web master. LLF

It's been a while since last I visited the Clan site and love the new format. I was quite surprised when "green" didn't pop up at me. It's always fun to see who's visited and where they're from. Betty-R01

hello from northern ireland. my maternal grandmother was mary ann mcallister, and i have been able to trace my lineage back to my great great great grandfather, ephraim mcallister, born about 1780. Settled in Carrickfergus, County Antrim. Possibly from Scottish Western Isles, a generation or so earlier??

My great grandfather was James H. McAllister born in 1838 in Ohio. I cannot find out where, or his pedigree. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I want to find the links to pass on to my kids - my dad was killed just before I was born, and the McAllister side is very vague. My grandfather was Kanab County Sheriff at the turn of the century. I qualified to command nuclear submarines. My oldest son ran the San Francisco United Airlines facility (operations/flights/maintenance). My Younger son obtained his "Professional Engineer" STAMP when he was in his late 20's. Our "baby" daughter (32) is in Pfyzer Research as a "coordinator" ? These kids need to know - they are not guilty because they are special - look at the genetic trail of who and what McAllisters have been. They are responsible to know - and THEN to go on with it... or sit-it-out.
